Go ask Alice; I think she'll know.

Sara Velte IS Scott Pilgrim in the action comic of the year!

We're not 100% sure, but the historical accounts lean that way. One claims that he was named by his wrestling coach (Plato means "broad," as in "broad-shouldered"), and another that he wrestled in the Isthmian games (an off-season alternative to the Olympics). It's almost certain that he did some wrestling in his youth, because every Greek in that period did, but those accounts suggest he excelled at it and made a name for himself before moving into philosophy.

Funnily enough, they were just talking about him in an episode of QI I was watching less than an hour ago. It didn't come up about him wrestling, though, but they did talk about how he got named after the platypus or something.

I was going to say Andy Kaufman, but whatever.

Thank you Sara. Truer words were never spoken or summarized so nicely.

I've liked this little excursion into Sara's head, but this strip took the cake. Nice to have some funny back!

Which begs the obvious question: If Plato debuted in ROH* tomorrow, what would his entrance music be?

*Ring of Honor, North America's 3rd most powerful wrestling promotion. I figure he'd go there since neither WWE nor TNA would touch a mat-based guy, even with guys like Daniel Bryan and CM Punk holding their own in Stanford.
I'm Charlie Owens, good night, and good luck.

What else? Immanuel Kant was a real piss-ant... Like anything else would be appropriate.

And now that I take a closer look at panel two, is that a jump kick, or a drop kick? Amazing job on the poses in this one, Jason.

Well, we do know that Plato did seem to enjoy getting sweaty with the lads, and usually in a flat position. . .

and for those who do not get that attempt at a bit of ribald humor. . .Plato was known to take a number of male lovers. It was common at the time. Socrates was the same. As was Sappho.

This has been your Greek LGBT lesson for the evening.
There was a girl who had a little curl right in the middle of her forehead, and when she was good, she was very, very good, and when she was bad she was homicidal.
