The Ronnie poll.

Something someone said to me tripped me to make this poll. Should be interesting.

Voted 5. Oh god, voted 5...

If I could go back and talk to myself when I was eighteen years old I'd probably pants me and knock me down.

I'm actually certain they WERE talking about me. I won't cite reasons or anything, I'm just sure of it, and it's not just paranoia talking.

No, they weren't talking about you. They were talking about ME! and how silly we would look together. In fact they were trying to set us up as a joke.

ETA: I did actually rejected a perfectly nice girl, because I was sure I was being set up as a joke. I look back on that and wonder WTF was wrong with me, but that's where I was mentally and emotionally. I've always wanted to say I'm sorry to Louise about that scene. I was an idiot, because if I was being played, so was she, and success would have been the best revenge. Instead, I blew her, and the others involved - who may well have been friends, off - ah, foolish, paranoid youth.

Option 5 all the way. Tall, white, overweight, glasses, t-shirt and jeans, trouble processing what other people are trying to say, constantly assessing the meaning behind peoples' words...

Yep, that was me right down to the hair cut.

No no, I mean, there was this... thing, I don't want to go into details or get into the story (though it just proves how stupid my classmates were) that they would stage-whisper when I was around. It was definitely intended to be about me, and they definitely wanted me to hear it, but when I called them out on it they would pretend obliviousness, or that they were talking about a similar subject.

2. And that's all I need to say about that. (I got better.)

Glad to see we have some 7s, though.

Number 4. Heck I'm still not great at it but I've gotten better since highschool.

Kinda wish I could just tell my freshman self to just calm down and not worry but I think I'd probably be suspicious of myself. :/

2 while I was in high school, but 1 now. And to be fair, sometimes I know they are talking about me. I saw an IM discussion and everything.

I'm on #7. This, despite having a body-type that matches his pretty closely. Instead, I went a different route, closer to Helen's "Cloak of Invisibility" that let me hang around with at least a few people from almost every clique--but I was also pretty much forgotten when not there. Looking back, I think I jammed most other people's attempts to read me, rather than the other way around.

#5.

I would have told myself in my junior year that it was my right to get help for things I was going through at the time, and that no one for any reason had the right to ineffectualize and invalidate everything I did or said. I also would have told myself to accept my bisexuality completely (while at school) and to not be afraid of sneaking out with my friends more often. Lastly, I would have told myself to run from the LDS (Mormon) church as fast as possible.

I made up for all of that in college, though. :D :D :D

Hi, new to posting, but long-time reader/forum lurker. :)

I was basically 1 and 2 in high school, and still am to a certain degree now. I'm usually fine, but sometimes I can't help thinking that way. :< Interested to see where Ronnie's character goes; I'd like to see him grow and change and eventually become secure in himself.

Voted #6 (some time earlier than I'm writing this). The second sentence in that choice doesn't reflect my sentiments though - it sounds so smugly superior from a position where there is hardly any justification for it.

At least I missed out on the paranoia *trying to resist making a "they were really out to get me" joke* and didn't try to analyze other people's behaviour to me unduly much either.

I was actually fairly happy in high school. Sure, everyone called me a dyke & there were a shitload of rumors, but for some reason it didn't bother me. All of my mental ailments waited until college to come crashing down on my head.

I see a lot of my traits in him, although I'm more inclined to take what people say at face value (usually). Sometimes if someone I don't normally associate with talks to me I suspect something. As for people talking about me behind my back - let 'em, they can bog off for all I care - I (seemingly) stopped caring about what others thought of me long ago. (Sometimes I do wonder what those close to me think, though...) And even though he kinda looks like me, I put on a silly, talkative front at school and leave my real feelings/issues under the surface.
