Lisa is making that face because she remembered where she's supposed to be tonight, and that Sara is going to kill her for having done it before. (And yes, the last panel is related to my crazy, unlikely theory.)

But marrying a Westerner would probably be seen as not much less of a transgression than lesbianism by some Koreans.(Just like marrying someone from another culture or skin colour unfortunately still is for some Westerners.)

Thus drawing attention to herself.

Right now, she may as well not be there, to them.

But, the moment she leaves, she arrives.

Maybe it's just me, but I've never had someone whose presence I haven't even noticed excusing themself do anything but completely torpedo the momentum of the conversation that I was having by quite obviously pointing out that they were there in the first place.

Yes, but I don't see how Sara and Temperance could have been unaware of Lisa's presence to start with. Lisa was at the audition, too. We can assume they all headed to the cafeteria together. So although Lisa isn't part of the conversation right now, it's not as if, were she to pleasantly excuse herself, they'd be all, "Aaah! You scared us, Lisa. Where did you come from?" :)

Thanks. Goddard is a low residency college- so I only get about eight days of that wonderful food, but it's wonderful there.

Lisa is acting like she needs her ashes hauled. Again.

Lisa needs to quietly bail. The problem is, Lisa doing anything "quietly" is about as likely as Rick Santorum coming out of the closet tomorrow afternoon.

And I don't get Lisa's second thought balloon. She's gone from a third wheel to Rocketman?

I wasn't suggesting that she'd arrived separately, just that they've fallen into a conversation with each other, and edited her out of the scene. She'll stay edited out, so long as she doesn't do anything to draw attention to herself - like excuse herself, which would do nothing but force them to acknowledge her.

She might be imagining leaving the conversation in any way possible- or just imagining doing something interesting to make up for being so bored.

Sorry, forgot I is an old man. :D Basically, she needs to get laid or something and get off Sara's tits.

Yeah I've been in situations like this. It's less awkward to not excuse yourself than to excuse yourself. I bet she IS gonna leave at some point though.

Overtly homophobic Republicans coming out of the closet (or, uh, being thrust out) (har har, "thrust") is not exactly unheard of, on the other hand :D
